Each year at our April Symposium or at a dinner meeting, the Northern California Section of the American Institute of
Chemical Engineers (NorCal AIChE) recognizes the accomplishments of our most distinguished members.
Our members play prominent roles in academia and industry in Northern California. California ranks first in
aerospace, agriculture, construction, advanced technology and biotechnology.
The Executive Board of Directors of AIChE Norcal take deep pride in inviting to you nominate your outstanding
peers for our 2008 Engineering Excellence Awards.
The requirements are as follows:
- The nominee’s current professional or residential address falls into
- California Counties: Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Kings, Lake, Lassen, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolumne, Yolo, and Yuba
- Nevada Counties: Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, and Washoe.
- The nominator is a member of AIChE Norcal. Strong preference will be given to nominees who are also members of AIChE Norcal, but this is not required.
- The prime factor for selection will be a current scientific contribution to engineering which expands the boundaries in any field of
science. To qualify, a contribution shall have been brought to fruition within the past five years and should be easily recognizable as
a definite advance of knowledge or a contribution to that advance that made the advance more accessible to society or a significant
technological development.
- The achievement for which an Award is granted should be as close in time as possible, relatively speaking, to the time that the
Award is made, dramatizing current progress in Science in California.
- Documentation is important! Nominator letters, along with additional documentation, including published articles and letters of
support from colleagues and peers are key. Nominating and recommendation letters should identify and explain the significance of
the contribution and the nominee's specific role.
Awardees will be selected by Committee vote. Awards in the form of inscribed plaques will be presented at
a future NorCal AIChE dinner meeting. Applications must be received by March 31, 2008. Winners will be notified
by phone and email by about April 15 and are encouraged to attend the dinner meeting as guests of AICHE Norcal. Awards can
be given in several categories. Typically one to three awards are given in a year. Please e-mail your completed letter of
recommendation to
Dr. Habib Amin, Contra Costa Health Services, 1350 Arnold Drive, Suite 102, Martinez, CA 94553. Tel: 925-646-2930, Fax: 925-646-2940, Email: che-excellence@aiche-norcal.org.
