October 2007 South Bay Meeting Notice
Chiral Drug Development
Dr. Niteen Vaidya of ChiroSolve As you may recall from organic chemistry, there are a class of compounds called enantiomers that have the same molecular formula, but whose structures are mirror images of one another. The two mirror image enantiomers can be quite different from one another in biological activity however. This difference in activity can either by beneficial or harmful and makes studying both molecular structures critical during the validation of drug compounds. Dr. Niteen Vaidya of ChiroSolve will give a talk on his methods and products for chiral compound research. ChiroSolve is a company in San Jose that offers products to accelerate the production of chiral compounds for research, regulatory, and production purposes. The meeting is in room 285/287 of the SJSU Engineering Building located on the north side of the campus on the corner of San Fernando St (runs east to west) and Paseo Ceasar Chavez (parallel to and between 4th and 10th streets). Parking is free after 6PM in the city parking garage on the corner of San Fernando St and 2nd Street. Reservations requested by End of Day October 9, 2007. |
